Saudi Arabia carried out 40 airstrikes against Yemen's Houthis

Saudi Arabia carried out around 40 airstrikes in Yemen in the last few hours, hitting the provinces of Taiz, Hodeida, Al-Jawf and Marib, according to Houthi forces via the Saba news agency. These airstrikes were a response to Houthi attacks on Saudi territory, which caused fires at several oil facilities and dozens of wounded.

The Shiite Houthi rebels, supported by Iran, took control of the city of Mokha, on the Red Sea, and are advancing toward the strategic Bab el-Mandeb strait. Witnesses said they saw rebel forces entering the port city shouting "death to America, death to Israel," the France-Presse news agency reported.

Houthi forces also took control of the entire Al-Hodeida province, in western Yemen, after expelling forces of the internationally recognized Government from the city of Hays. Troops loyal to the Government were forced to retreat toward Mocha, with rebels now about 15 kilometers from the port.

The worsening of the conflict in the Middle East impacted oil markets, with the price of Brent crude exceeding the $102 barrier, reaching the highest value since May, after a 1.14% rise.
