Brussels wants to adapt European rules to Madeira's reality

The European Commission wants to adapt legislation in areas such as agriculture, fisheries, and migrations to the reality of the Outermost Regions (ORs), such as the Azores and Madeira. The Community executive adopted a communication on the ORs that includes a strategy and a regulatory package, proposing specific adaptations of European Union legislation. The objective is to better reflect the realities and unique constraints of these regions. The proposals recognize the specific needs of the outermost regions and aim to create a regulatory framework more suited to their particular geographical and economic situation.
