The president of the Regional Government of the Azores expressed expectations that all parties show "sense of responsibility" during the discussion of the first regional budget prepared after the conclusion of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP).
This budget marks a significant transition for the region, as it represents the first budgetary exercise after the end of the European financing program that supported economic and social recovery.
The head of the Azorean executive called for the collaboration of all political forces represented in the regional parliament to approve a document that guarantees the continuity of investments and public policies implemented during the RRP period.
The discussion of this budget comes in a context of adaptation to the new financial realities of the region, which will have to find alternative forms of financing to replace the extraordinary European funds from the RRP.
