Rancho Folclórico da Trofa promotes 2nd Traditional Corn Husking Event

SAPO10 September 2026 at 10:26

The Rancho Folclórico da Trofa will promote, on September 19, the second edition of its Traditional Corn Husking event. The event is scheduled to begin at 9pm and includes an ethnographic parade that will start on Rua Camilo Castelo Branco, next to the Taxi Square. The procession will continue along Rua Conde de S. Bento, heading to the location where the corn husking will take place.

The initiative aims to recreate an ancient Portuguese tradition related to corn farming, where communities would gather to husk the cobs after the harvest. This type of event is part of the cultural preservation work carried out by folk groups in Portugal.

The Rancho Folclórico da Trofa is a cultural association that promotes traditional and ethnographic activities in the region. Through this initiative, the group seeks to keep the traditions and customs of the past alive, offering the local community and visitors the opportunity to learn about and participate in these traditional festivities.
