The Festival Sabores de Perdição took place between September 3 and 6 in Castelo Branco, closing this Sunday with an overwhelmingly positive outcome. This edition held special significance as it was adapted following the damage caused by Storm Kristin. The event was marked by strong public turnout, the boost to the local economy, and the valorization of producers and artists from the region.
The 2026 edition took on a deeply symbolic and innovative character, being unashamedly 100% Castelo Branco. For the first time in the history of the event, the main entrance to the venue, at the Centro Cívico, was open to the physical, participatory, and active presence of all Parish Councils and Parish Union of the municipality. Leopoldo Rodrigues, president of the Municipal Council of Castelo Branco, emphasized that this was a way of demonstrating that in Castelo Branco there are no first-class or second-class territories or citizens.
The mayor made a positive assessment of the four days of the event, where 15 parishes were represented, with 27 producers in the Sabores Space, 21 artisans in the Saberes Space, and 12 food stalls integrated into the Petiscos com Sabor area. On the last night, minutes before the closing concert featuring the Sinfonietta de Castelo Branco, the Regional Conservatory, and the Professional School, Leopoldo Rodrigues praised the performances on the two stages, referring to local artists as gold or diamonds of the house.
The municipality announced that the festival will return in 2027 with a novelty: an expanded nine-day format spread across two periods, from May 26 to 30 and from June 3 to 6. Leopoldo Rodrigues indicated that opinions are practically unanimous and that this was considered the best edition ever of Sabores de Perdição.
