E-REDES inaugurated on September 9 the new Arregota Nova Substation, in the municipality of Grândola, representing an investment of approximately four million euros intended to reinforce the capacity and security of the electrical grid in the Alentejo Coast.
The infrastructure benefits approximately 3,700 residential clients and 46 business clients. In addition to improving the supply conditions in Grândola, it creates alternative power supply capacity for Alcácer do Sal and Santiago do Cacém, increasing the resilience of the grid serving this territory.
The substation has an initial installed power of 20 megavolt-amperes, is fed through a new high voltage network and includes the construction of a medium voltage network interconnected to the existing infrastructure. It also has automation and remote monitoring technology, allowing the infrastructure to be operated remotely.
Construction began in April 2022 and the installation was prepared for future expansions, in order to meet the predicted growth in electricity consumption in the region. The investment is part of E-REDES's grid modernization and automation strategy.
