Two weeks after the floods that devastated Nepal, the country faces a humanitarian crisis with thousands dead and missing. The natural catastrophe left deep scars on the Nepalese population.
The Portuguese João Marçal Grilo has been working for more than ten years in the area of mental health in Nepal, through a non-governmental organization. His small team is currently trying to reach the health professionals who were left behind and who also need psychological support.
Grilo warns that the trauma of catastrophes passes from generation to generation, emphasizing that the most important work in the area of mental health begins precisely when the tragedy stops being news and when media attention shifts to other realities.
