Ruas criticizes President Lula when speaking about Propag at interview: 'came here with the most brazen face'

The candidate for governor of Rio, Federal Deputy Douglas Ruas (PL), harshly criticized President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) during an interview held on BandNews FM this Wednesday. When questioned about the Full Debt Payment Program for States (Propag), which allows the reduction of states' monthly payments to the Union, Ruas stated that Lula had vetoed provisions that would benefit the state of Rio de Janeiro.

According to Ruas, the president vetoed favorable provisions for the state regarding debt payment. He declared that the veto was later overturned by the National Congress, which considered and rejected the presidential vetoes. The PL candidate recalled that only after legislative interference were the provisions favorable to Rio addressed.

During the interview, Douglas Ruas accused Lula of coming to Rio with "the most brazen face" to hold a ceremony celebrating the Propag agreement, when, according to the candidate, the president himself had previously vetoed the measures that would benefit the fluminense state. The criticism aims to demonstrate the contradiction between the federal government's actions and the subsequent celebration of the program.
