Puppy abandoned in crate by roadside and adopted by police officer in the USA

A puppy was rescued by a highway patrol officer after being abandoned in a crate on the side of a highway in the state of Ohio, United States. Sergeant John Kronander found the animal during a patrol in the parking lot of an area near the road. The officer's body camera recorded the moment he found the dog in a crate, covered by a piece of cardboard. The puppy was without food and water. Kronander took the animal to the Medina County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), a nonprofit animal shelter and adoption center. In a post on social media, the Medina County SPCA classified the abandonment as a deplorable situation. The puppy ended up being adopted by Kronander himself, the officer who rescued it.
