The state of São Paulo reached 30 confirmed measles cases in 2026, as reported by the State Health Department (SES-SP) this Wednesday (9). The two new records refer to children under two years old, residents of the capital city of São Paulo, who had been reported in August and whose laboratory results were confirmed later.
The capital concentrates the vast majority of cases, with 27. The other three records are distributed among São Bernardo do Campo, with two cases, and Guarulhos, with one case. Among the 30 confirmed patients, 22 had no record of measles vaccination or had an incomplete vaccination schedule.
According to SES-SP, the two cases confirmed this week are part of transmission chains already identified and monitored by epidemiological surveillance teams. In total, four transmission chains are under monitoring in the state.
The Department reinforced the importance of vaccination as the main prevention measure against the disease, especially given the outbreak scenario.
