Unicorn Factory Launches Program to Train Teachers and Bring Entrepreneurship to Schools

Jornal Económico9 September 2026 at 19:41

Unicorn Factory Lisboa opened registrations for the Educator Innovation Program, a new program developed with the support of José de Mello and Sonae, aimed at teachers of all education levels — from primary to higher education — belonging to public, private, or international schools. The program will start on September 15 and aims to equip teachers with skills to integrate innovation in the classroom and stimulate an entrepreneurial mindset among students.

The first phase of the program consists of an in-person and practical training on September 15 and 16, which will take place at the Beato Innovation District and the AIHub. During this period, teachers will have access to knowledge about startup creation and development, including topics such as problem identification, solution development, use of artificial intelligence tools, rapid prototyping, and business model validation.

In the second phase, which extends throughout the entire school year, educators will participate in monthly follow-up and mentoring sessions in an online format. This ongoing support aims to facilitate the implementation of practical projects adapted to each school, such as creating entrepreneurship clubs or connecting students to mentors from the Unicorn Factory Lisboa ecosystem. Participants will also have access to a platform with guides and practical resources and will receive an official certification.

Gil Azevedo, executive director of Unicorn Factory Lisboa, highlighted that investing in innovation education is fundamental for the future of young people, creating a multiplier effect through teachers. This initiative is part of the organization's global strategy for promoting youth entrepreneurship, which in the last two years has involved more than 2,450 students and supported about two hundred entrepreneurial projects.

Maternity Pay: Federal Revenue Blocks Fraud Attempt and R$ 1 Billion Loss to Social Security

Brazil's Federal Revenue Service thwarted a scheme estimated at R$ 1 billion targeting public funds through fraud in the maternity pay benefit. Shell companies and suspicious organizations filed improper reimbursement claims alleging payments to insured individuals who do not have children. The reimbursement in question refers to cases where the company advances maternity pay to employees covered by the General Social Security System, with the right to subsequent compensation. The investigations revealed companies with only one employee, near-zero revenue, absence of compatible tax records, and requests for atypical amounts, constituting an organized pattern of improper appropriation of public funds.
