oglobo9 September 2026 at 18:20

Lars Ulrich, drummer for the band Metallica, sold two neighboring mansions in the Presidio Heights area of San Francisco, California, for $68 million, equivalent to approximately R$347 million. The transaction took place this week.

According to the newspaper The San Francisco Standard, this is the second largest single real estate transaction in San Francisco's history. The first place is held by the $71 million purchase made by Laurene Powell Jobs, widow of Steve Jobs, in 2024.

The larger mansion, spanning 1,486 m², was purchased by Ulrich in 2017 for $30 million, through a trust fund. The smaller one, with 557 m², was acquired in 2018 for $6 million, also through another trust fund.

The identity of the buyers was not disclosed in the article. The transaction represents a significant profit for the Danish musician, who invested approximately $36 million in the two properties.

This is ALP's first investment outside the traditional housing rental market, representing a diversification of its assets to respond to the critical shortage of student housing in major university cities. The association states that this focus on this segment also comes as a response to legislative and regulatory instability in the long-term rental market, highlighting that student housing offers more predictable occupancy cycles aligned with the academic calendar.
