Capucho and Hugo Vieira, former Gil Vicente players, participated in the opening match of the new Footpark in Arcozelo, Barcelos, against a team of local officials. Carlitos, also a former player of the club, was the sponsor of the space, inaugurated this Wednesday. The new facility is the 16th minifield open to the community created by the Football Foundation, with the support of a national hypermarket chain. The intervention made it possible to replace a part of the old concrete venue, known by residents as an extreme park, with a synthetic grass pitch. The surrounding area also features spaces for volleyball, padel, and basketball.

The space is part of the Footpark project, promoted by the Football Foundation, which plans the construction or renovation of 32 minifields by 2027.

Susana da Silva Curto, executive director of Liga Portugal, highlighted that the Footpark in Barcelos will now serve a community of approximately 27,000 young people and children. She also announced that this year the first Footparks tournament will be held, with games organized nationwide and the final at Arena Liga Portugal in Porto.

Susana da Silva Curto stated that in the last season alone, sports societies nationwide carried out more than 1,200 social responsibility and community outreach actions, and that the Footpark in Barcelos is one of them.
