The Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina qualified for the US Open semi-finals after coming back from a difficult match against Chinese player Qinwen Zheng. This victory represents another important milestone in the career of the young 24-year-old.

With this result, Rybakina will ascend to the position of world number one in the WTA ranking, becoming the 30th leader in the history of this ranking since its creation in 1975. This will be her first time at the top of the women's world tennis ranking.

The Kazakh player, who represents Kazakhstan but was born in Russia, has been consolidating her position among the best tennis players in the world over the past season, demonstrating consistency and quality of play in the main tournaments.

This US Open semi-final marks a historic moment for Rybakina, who adds this achievement to the conquest of two Grand Slam titles, Wimbledon in 2022 and 2024, reinforcing her status as one of the most dominant tennis players on the current circuit.
