A new queen: Rybakina reaches US Open semi-finals and will become World number one

The Kazakh tennis player Elena Rybakina qualified for the US Open semi-finals after coming back from a difficult match against Chinese player Qinwen Zheng. This victory represents another important milestone in the career of the young 24-year-old.

With this result, Rybakina will ascend to the position of world number one in the WTA ranking, becoming the 30th leader in the history of this ranking since its creation in 1975. This will be her first time at the top of the women's world tennis ranking.
