Transit was fully released on Almirante Ary Parreiras Avenue, one of the main roads in Icaraí, in the South Zone of Niterói, after the completion of the sanitation system modernization works carried out by Águas de Niterói. The intervention, which had been impacting circulation and contributing to congestion in the region, was completed last Saturday (5).
The works began in April and were carried out in different sections of the avenue. With an investment of R$ 10 million, the concessionaire replaced 710 meters of piping with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) tubes, one meter in diameter. The new terrestrial outfall began operating on September 2.
According to Águas de Niterói, the new structure increases the efficiency and operational safety of the sanitation system and benefits approximately 250,000 residents of the region.
