ABIMOTA, the most representative association of the two-wheeled vehicle sector based in Águeda, received a delegation from the European Cycling Industries (ECI), the entity representing the European bicycle industry before European Union institutions. The delegation was composed of CEO Paul Walsh and Tanner Ahmed, Policy Manager for Energy and Industrial Strategy, and aimed to learn about the technological and innovation capacity of the Portuguese cluster.
The ECI was received at ABIMOTA's headquarters by president Vital Almeida, Secretary-General David Macário, among other executives, and by laboratory director Luís Pires. The program included visits to testing and technical analysis laboratories and one of the associated companies.
The delegation also visited BIKiNNOV – Bike Value Innovation Center, the managing entity of the Technology and Innovation Center, where they had the opportunity to test the Portugal Bike Value bicycle, developed 100% in Portugal. The BIKiNNOV leadership presented the available technological and R&D capabilities, including testing facilities for bicycles, components, and helmets, materials, chemistry, and metrology laboratories, as well as prototyping and component validation testing capabilities.
The meeting was considered decisive for strengthening the positioning and value of the national industry in the European ecosystem and market.
