USA: Treasury bond repurchase amount will be three times the usual, but markets are not convinced

The US Treasury will triple the usual amount of long-term bond buybacks to up to six billion dollars, in an attempt to stabilize markets and contain the rise in yields. However, investors were not satisfied, waiting for an even higher amount than the one announced by Secretary Bessent, and 10-year bonds set highs since November 2023, with yields exceeding 4.8%. The rise in oil prices above 100 dollars and tensions in the Persian Gulf also contributed to the poor performance of US debt markets.
