Kaminski did not perform well as an attacking player and could change position at Benfica

Glorioso 1904 – Se é notícia do Benfica, está aqui9 September 2026 at 16:40

Jakub Kaminski, the Polish international signed by Benfica for 17 million euros, has been going through a difficult start to the season, with performances below expectations. The fans expected more from the reinforcement, who arrived at a time when the club's players who participated in the 2026 World Cup had not yet made their debut. All this is added to by the high investment in the signing, which has increased the pressure on the player.

However, Alexander Bah's injury revealed a lesser-explored side of Kaminski. The Polish player demonstrated he has great versatility, being able to play in areas of the pitch less expected. Marco Silva decided to explore this characteristic last Saturday, against Marítimo.

The Benfica coach brought on Kaminski on the right side of the defence, filling the gap left by Alexander Bah, who wore shirt number 6. This was not a completely new position for the player, as he has already played it on 10 occasions throughout his career, including three times for Wolfsburg.

Despite the initial difficulties and the possibility of being placed on the transfer market in January, this versatility shown by the Polish player could represent an added value for Marco Silva's team, offering the coach a tactical solution in different areas of the pitch.
