Cuatrecasas advises Commerz Real on the sale of Forum Algarve

Eco9 September 2026 at 16:02

Cuatrecasas advised Commerz Real, a German asset manager, on the sale of the Forum Algarve shopping center in Faro to the Spanish manager Alfana Investment Management. The asset was sold for 130 million euros.

Forum Algarve was acquired by Commerz Real in 2000, still in the development phase. With a total area of 27,400 square meters, the shopping center has a retail occupancy of almost 100%. Last year, it received nearly eight million visitors and retail sales exceeded 120 million euros.

The team that advised Commerz Real was led by Sofia Gomes da Costa, partner in Real Estate and Urban Planning at Cuatrecasas. Sofia Gomes da Costa stated that it was a great honor to have accompanied the history of Forum Algarve over more than two decades, from advising on its acquisition to conducting its sale, considering that few projects allow a lawyer to participate in both defining moments of the lifecycle of an investment of this magnitude.

US defense startup Covenant to produce cruise missiles in Germany

The North American defense startup Covenant will begin in 2027 the mass production of Anthem cruise missiles in Germany, expecting to produce one thousand units per year initially and increase to 5,000 by 2028. The company has already secured a contract in Europe and is in negotiations with other clients. The missile, cheaper than alternatives such as the Tomahawk, will have an almost entirely European supply chain, with less than 5% of materials from outside the continent. Europe is looking to reinforce long-range weapons arsenals in the face of growing Russian threats, and Covenant considers that the continent will need tens of thousands of missiles to deter adversaries.
