Registrations are open for the 13th edition of the Crédito Agrícola Wine Competition, organized in partnership with the Association of Portuguese Sommeliers and recognized by the Vine and Wine Institute. The competition targets producers and cooperatives from all national wine-producing regions who are members or customers of the bank, with applications accepted until October 2.
Throughout its editions, the competition has distinguished excellent wines through the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Tambuladeira medals from the Association of Portuguese Sommeliers in the categories "White Wine", "Red Wine", and "Sparkling Wine". The Grand Gold Medal is also awarded to the best wine in each category, as well as the Sustainable Production Wines distinction for certified producers with practices recognized nationally or internationally.
This edition takes place in a particularly relevant context for the sector, following Crédito Agrícola's sponsorship as the official bank of the ASI Best Sommelier of the World Portugal 2026, the most prestigious international sommelier competition, which will be held in Lisbon from October 11 to 17. Taking advantage of the presence of some of the most renowned international sommeliers in Portugal, several of these professionals will join the jury of the 13th edition of the competition, alongside national judges, winemakers, wine enthusiasts, and specialized journalists, meeting in Lisbon on October 17 for blind tastings of the competing wines.
With approximately 800 wines awarded since the first edition, the competition aims to enhance Portuguese wine production, open doors to new business opportunities, and contribute to strengthening the sector and local economies.
