Representatives of Azorean social institutions met today with the president of the Regional Government to address the situation of sector funding. The organizations present at the meeting include the Regional Union of Private Social Solidarity Institutions of the Azores (URIPSSA) and the Regional Union of Misericórdias.
During the meeting, association leaders expressed concern about the funding allocated by the Republic (mainland Portugal) to Azorean social institutions. This situation has generated apprehension among sector officials in the region.
Despite the concerns, representatives of Azorean social institutions expressed hope that the year 2027 could represent a period of consolidation for the sector. This prospect of normalization comes in a context where organizations continue to face challenges related to available financial resources.
