An international survey places Brazil among the fastest-growing biomethane expansion markets in the world, alongside the United States, China, India, Spain, Ireland, Austria, and Belgium. The "From Waste to Wheels" study maps the advancement of the fuel in approximately 40 countries, which already use it in transportation in nearly 30 markets and have placed it on a commercial scale in more than 12. Among the already consolidated markets are Sweden, Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Norway, and California, where 97% of the gaseous fuel used on roads is already biomethane. Europe has 1,678 biomethane plants in operation and more than 100,000 industrial installations adaptable to the fuel.
