Heat returns strongly to Braga and reaches 36 degrees

The heat will intensify over the coming days in Braga, with maximum temperatures rising from the 28 degrees forecast for today to 36 degrees on Sunday. The rise will be gradual, according to the forecast from the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). For Friday, 32 degrees are expected, while on Saturday thermometers should register even higher values, before reaching the peak of 36 degrees on Sunday.

Photographs recorded the complete drying of a stretch of the Rio da Prata in Jardim, Mato Grosso do Sul, which disappeared in just four days between the end of August and the beginning of September due to the drought affecting the region. The comparative images show the total reduction of water, leaving only dry branches and exposed soil. About 200 fish were trapped in small puddles and needed to be rescued in an emergency action by the Instituto Guarda Mirim Ambiental and by the Instituto Amigos do Rio da Prata, being transferred to a deeper stretch where the flow remains normal.
