In August 2026, Madeira recorded air temperatures above the usual values at all reference stations in the archipelago, according to data released by the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
Regarding precipitation, the pattern was more irregular. Two stations in the archipelago showed rainfall values above average, while two others recorded values below the usual levels.
The data is compared with the 1991-2020 reference period, used by IPMA to establish the climatological averages.
