The Portuguese Government announced on Tuesday a reduction in IRS up to the sixth bracket, which will have an impact on November and December salaries. The measure includes the Christmas bonus and there will be retroactive payments relating to January.
The specific rates have not yet been announced, but it is possible to estimate the impact. For an average salary of 1,500 euros, the monthly relief should be just over ten euros.
The reduction covers workers up to the sixth IRS bracket, which encompasses a large portion of Portuguese taxpayers. The executive thus intends to ease the tax burden on average and medium-low incomes.
