Last Sunday (6/9), a 32-year-old man identified as Pushpendra Kumar Manouria jumped from a height of approximately 9 meters, equivalent to a three-story building, into a reservoir canal located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India. The purpose of the jump was to film a video for posting on social media and gain likes.
Pushpendra jumped over a protective barrier installed around a viewpoint and jumped backward, apparently expecting to land in deep water. A person watching the scene even shouted "May God rest his soul in peace!" before the man launched himself from the structure.
However, the spot where Pushpendra landed was shallow and rocky, causing him to collide violently with the stones. As a result, the Indian man fractured his legs. Even with severe pain, he managed to use only his arms to float and grab an iron bar while witnesses at the scene pulled him out of the water.
Police were quickly alerted about the situation and arrived at the scene to assist the man. The case serves as a warning about the risks of performing dangerous actions to go viral on social media.
