Edvania Mayara Barboza Santos, 29, was found dead at her home in the São Bento neighborhood, in Duque de Caxias, in Baixada Fluminense. Police are investigating the case as femicide. The body was discovered Tuesday morning, in her bed, by the victim's own children, aged 6 and 7.

The children, upon finding their mother, thought she was just injured and not dead. In panic, they called neighbors, who notified the 15th BPM (Duque de Caxias). The case is being investigated by the competent police authorities.

A relative, who asked not to be identified, reported that the children are traumatized. According to her, the siblings don't want to leave their grandmother's side, cry all the time, and have fever. The family member described the minors' suffering and asked that the children's pain be considered.

According to witnesses, Edvania and her husband had left together for a party Monday night. In the early hours of Tuesday, the two returned home, which is when the sequence of events that resulted in the woman's death would begin.
