Mediterranean Diet Fair concludes another edition with thousands of visitors in Tavira

Another edition of the Mediterranean Diet Fair in Tavira has concluded, after four days of event that brought thousands of visitors to the historic centre, streets, squares, open spaces, gardens and cultural facilities of the city. The programme featured exhibitions, book launches, seminars, conferences, workshops, culinary demonstrations, health initiatives and physical activity, family activities, music, dance, theatre and other artistic expressions.

The fair featured two hundred exhibitors, including producers, artisans, associations, institutions and economic and cultural agents, highlighting local products, traditional knowledge and ways of life associated with the Mediterranean Diet. Different cultures, traditions and knowledge from various Mediterranean geographies came together, promoting intercultural dialogue and sharing among people, communities and generations.

The collective experience assumed particular relevance in meeting the objectives of the Mediterranean Diet Safeguarding Plan. The Tavira municipality highlighted that preserving this heritage means keeping it alive, promoting the transmission of knowledge between generations, valuing local products and producers, preserving traditional knowledge and practices, and strengthening cooperation among Mediterranean communities.

The Municipality of Tavira and the Organizing Committee expressed their appreciation to the municipal workers, partner entities, producers, artisans, artists, researchers, speakers, security forces, civil protection, volunteers and all professionals involved in the event's organization.
