The Left Bloc of Coimbra inaugurated on Saturday its new district headquarters, located on Rua Paço do Conde, in the Baixa (lower town) of Coimbra, during an open day that ran from 3:00 PM to midnight. The party intended to make this new space a meeting point for political, social, cultural and artistic intervention in the district, open to the city and the district, to associations, to movements, to social struggles, to culture and to political participation.
The inauguration program featured the participation of various associations, collectives and social movements, including Path, Meatless Mondays, Associação Existências, Quercus Coimbra, República das Marias do Loureiro and República Baco, who were present at an afternoon "Feirinha de Lutas" (Small Struggles Fair).
One of the highlights of the event was a conversation moderated by José Manuel Pureza, national coordinator of the Left Bloc, with the presence of Maria Paixão, municipal deputy in Coimbra, and Diogo Duarte Silva, municipal council member in Figueira da Foz, to debate the challenges the country is facing. The program also included a collective visual arts exhibition with works by Lua Eva Blue, Paulo Anjos, Jennifer Söze Söze, SKYE, Daniela Fernandes and Ana Carolina Gomes, live music with Luísa and Francisco Frutuoso, a community dinner of mushroom feijoada, a quiz and a party with DJs Tiago Rolino and Guv.
