Íñigo Errejón filed an appeal with the Provincial Court of Madrid against the judge's decision to dismiss his lawsuit for slander against Elisa Mouliaá. The magistrate had initially admitted the lawsuit but later decided to dismiss it.
Errejón maintains that it was indeed a crime, arguing that the accused intended to "defame, undermine honor, destroy credibility and respectability" of the former politician through her statements.
The appeal challenges the decision of the first-instance judge who considered that the facts did not constitute a crime of slander, even while acknowledging that Mouliaá's statements could have caused damage to Errejón's reputation.
This process is part of the broader context of mutual accusations between both parties, following the complaints that resulted in the fall of Errejón's political career.
