Centenary Parade marks 100 years of Setúbal's elevation to district capital

A Centenary Parade was held in Setúbal to celebrate the 100 years of the city's elevation to district capital, a date commemorated since the edict of December 22, 1926. The event, starting at 4:30 PM at Pier 3 and ending at 6:00 PM at Praça de Bocage, brought together the 13 municipalities of the district in a markedly institutional and symbolic character, with each municipality represented by delegations composed of executives, flag bearers, period-costumed figures and representatives of local associations. The route crossed several streets of the historic center, including Avenida Jaime Rebelo, streets of Velha Alfândega, Dr. Paula Borba and Serpa Pinto, culminating at the Paços do Concelho. The commemorative ceremony at Praça de Bocage included the staged reading of the 1926 Edict and the performance of the National Anthem by the participating bands, integrating the municipal program Comemorações Bocagianas 2026.
