The Centenary Parade takes place on December 22nd, starting at 4:30 PM at Pier 3 and ending at Praça de Bocage near the Paços do Concelho. The initiative celebrates the 100 years of the publication of the edict of December 22, 1926, which elevated Setúbal to District Capital, integrating the municipal program Comemorações Bocagianas 2026.
The event has a markedly institutional and symbolic character, seeking to bring together the 13 municipalities of the district in a joint celebration of their common history. Each municipality sent a delegation preferably composed of an executive representative, a flag bearer, period-costumed figures and representatives of cultural, recreational and sports associations.
The route, with an estimated duration of one and a half to two hours, crosses several streets of the historic center, passing through Avenida Jaime Rebelo, streets of Teotónio Banha, Velha Alfândega, Dr. Paula Borba, Serpa Pinto and Augusto Cardoso, Largo da Misericórdia, Avenida 22 de Dezembro, Rua de Bocage and ending at Praça de Bocage, with arrival expected at 6:00 PM.
At Praça de Bocage there will be a commemorative ceremony with the presence of official entities, which will include the staged reading of the Edict of December 22, 1926 and the performance of the National Anthem by the participating musical bands.
