South Park becomes South America

ZAP Notícias9 September 2026 at 10:20

The creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced on social media that the series "South Park" will change its name to "South America," in a satire of US President Donald Trump's efforts to rename seas, lakes, and even states. The announcement was made on the social media platform X, before the premiere of the 29th season.

The creators said they were "inspired by the courage and patriotism of Apple and Google," referring to those companies' decisions to change the names of features or applications in response to Chinese government policies.

The satirical series had previously satirized Trump, and this new episode continues the program's tradition of commenting on current political topics through humor.

The name change is presented as an extension of the trend of renaming geographic and other elements, in an ironic commentary on Trump's policy.
