The Board of the Ateneo de Castellón granted the first Ateneo de Castellón prize to writer Manuel Vicent Recatalá. This prize was created as part of the centenary celebrations of the institution, founded in 1925.
Manuel Vicent was born in Vilavella on March 10, 1936 and is recognized as a writer, journalist and columnist. He is considered one of the most lucid, versatile and personal voices of contemporary Spanish literature.
The prize represents the beginning of a new tradition for the Ateneo de Castellón, which decided to establish this distinction precisely during the festivities of its centenary.
