The organizations European Anglers' Alliance, European Environmental Bureau, Surfrider Foundation Europe, Wetlands International Europe and WWF European Policy Office filed a formal complaint against the European Commission for alleged "maladministration" in the Water Framework Directive revision process.
The five environmental and fishing organizations criticized the way the European Commission conducted the process that resulted in the revision of this directive, questioning the transparency and justification of the decisions made.
The signatory organizations accuse the Commission of having proceeded with the revision without presenting sufficient evidence to justify the proposed changes to European water legislation.
