The Festival in Honour of Our Lady of Bonança began today in Vila Praia de Âncora, marking one of the most emblematic celebrations of this town. This pilgrimage, deeply linked to the identity and traditions of fishing communities, is considered one of the last festivities in the Alto Minho calendar.
The event runs until Sunday, featuring an extensive program that includes masses and other religious and cultural activities throughout the four days of celebration.
The festival is dedicated to Our Lady of Bonança, patron saint of fishing communities, which explains the strong connection of this celebration to the maritime traditions of the Vila Praia de Âncora region.
