Government says children need two vaccines to enroll. DGS says they don't prevent registration

The Ministry of Education determines that children need to have their diphtheria and tetanus vaccines updated to enroll or take exams at school. This requirement is provided for in a law in force since 1962 and was highlighted again by the Government on its official website in April.

However, in practice, this obligation is not being enforced. The Directorate-General for Health (DGS) states that the vaccines do not prevent students from enrolling in schools, creating a discrepancy between what is established in the legislation and what actually happens.

The Government continues to defend the application of this 1962 law, which requires the presentation of an updated vaccination certificate as a requirement for school attendance and taking exams.
