The Local Health Unit (ULS) was forced to strengthen corpse identification measures after a body swap was detected during a wake. The situation occurred when a patient's body was erroneously delivered to a funeral agency, having been exchanged for another person who died on the same day.

The swap was discovered when the family members began the wake and realized that the body present did not correspond to that of their relative. After the error was detected, the competent authorities were alerted to the situation.

The ULS was subsequently instructed to implement stronger identification measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future. The incident raised concerns about the procedures in place for body identification and transfer.

The determined measures aim to ensure greater safety and rigor in the corpse identification process before any delivery to funeral agencies, preventing similar situations from occurring again.
