A 25-year-old young man, imprisoned in a prison in Rio Grande do Sul, was sentenced to return to INSS the amounts paid as death pension since February 2025 to his mother's partner, who was murdered. The young man, confessed author of the crime, awaits trial for the murder of his mother at the Jury Court.
INSS filed a regressive action against the accused to collect the amount that had already been spent on paying the benefit left for the victim's partner. The young man's father reported that his son is in closed regime, without financial conditions or income to hire a lawyer, which is why a public defender was appointed to represent him in the process.
The judge who analyzed the regressive action understood that, although the young man has not yet been submitted to the Jury Court, the evidence produced in the criminal investigation is sufficient to demonstrate the materiality of the homicide and its authorship. The police investigation was opened to investigate the woman's disappearance.
