Two of the three security guards who were working at the Institute of Philosophy and Social Sciences of UFRJ on the night when History student Diego Costa da Silva Araújo was beaten by colleagues provided testimony to the Civil Police on September 1st and 2nd. The security guards stated that they never saw Diego insult anyone or use offensive names during the confusion.
According to the testimonies, Diego only repeated that he was not a Nazi and tried to protect himself from the attacks he was suffering. Law student Deivid Lima, on the other hand, claims to have been a victim of racist insults and aggression while trying to escort Diego to the police station, saying that his colleague would have called him "monkey".
This point is relevant to the investigation because the case involves cross-accusations between the students involved. The Civil Police continue to investigate the case to clarify the facts.
