The DANCE DANCE DANCE Festival returns to Teatro das Figuras in Faro between September 9 and 26, with a programming dedicated to contemporary dance composed of creations by national and international artists, bringing together emerging names and already recognized creators who propose different approaches to dance, music, identity and contemporary forms of artistic creation.
The festival opens on the 9th with "Baubo," a piece with artistic direction and choreography by Sofia Brito, developed as part of the Artist-Mother project, which emerges from the imaginaries of a collective of women, artists and mothers about the archetype of the wild woman, with performances by Alexa Papa, Bárbara Ramos, Sara Martins and Sofia Brito. On the 12th, "Wonderlandi" takes the stage, with concept and choreography by Lander Patrick, which places music at the center of performative creation and brings together eight performers on stage.
On September 19th, Greek choreographer Despina Sanida Crezia presents "Off, Off," a creation that explores remix, bootleg and fandom culture, questioning concepts such as authorship, authenticity and originality. On the 23rd, Teatro das Figuras hosts Grupo Impacto, a Brazilian project created 30 years ago by teenagers in situations of social vulnerability who found in urban dances a space for expression, presenting "Baobás," a show about the beliefs and roots of the Brazilian people.
The closing is scheduled for September 26th with "Affective Choreography" by André Uerba, an investigation into structures and practices of intimacy that develops at a slow pace, also featuring the participation of community members who took part in a workshop held the previous week. Tickets can be purchased at the Teatro das Figuras box office or through the online platform.
