Indonesian authorities are carrying out search operations for a vessel with five journalists on board. The vessel lost contact while the journalists were on a news coverage mission.
The five journalists were covering the eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano, which became active in the region. The volcano is located in the Sunda Strait, between the islands of Java and Sumatra.
The rescue operations mobilized teams from Indonesian maritime and emergency authorities to locate the vessel and the journalists. Conditions in the operation area were reportedly affected by the ongoing volcanic activity.
