A delegation of Social Democratic Women of the Algarve traveled to the European Parliament in Brussels between Monday, September 7, and Wednesday, on an institutional visit aimed at deepening knowledge about the functioning of European institutions and the European Union's decision-making process.
The trip made it possible to learn more closely about the work carried out by MEPs and understand how decisions made at the European level impact citizens and regions, including the Algarve. The visit included a tour of the European Parliament's facilities and moments of contact with the institutional reality of that organization.
The organization considers that the visit also constituted an opportunity to give visibility to the challenges and potential of the region to European institutions, highlighting the importance of promoting greater participation of women in political and public life. During the visit, the delegation also reflected on topics related to women, families, youth, and regions, emphasizing the relevance of public policies oriented toward equal opportunities, territorial cohesion, and sustainable development.
The experience gained in Brussels should now be shared in the Algarve, through the dissemination of the knowledge acquired during the trip and the continuation of initiatives aimed at strengthening women's participation in society and political life.
