Prime Minister Luís Montenegro used the debate on the motion of censure presented by the Chega party to make two important announcements. During the debate, he revealed a new interim reduction of income tax and the repetition of the bonus for pensioners.
The fiscal measures will be approved next week, coming into force in November. The income tax reduction will have retroactive effects to January, meaning taxpayers will receive the amounts corresponding to the previous months.
The motion of censure presented by Chega ended up being rejected, a result that was anticipated even before the parliamentary debate began.
