The president of the National Firefighters School submitted his resignation this Tuesday. The decision was motivated by the lack of "tranquility, predictability and necessary stability" to carry out his duties.
The resigning president accused the president of the Portuguese Firefighters League of "threats and blackmail," which reportedly contributed to the environment that led to his departure.
The National Firefighters School is an institution dedicated to the training of firefighters in Portugal, while the Portuguese Firefighters League is the entity that represents these professionals at the national level.
