Exhausted funds leave 100 companies without post-Kristin support

The Intermunicipal Community of Leiria revealed that around 100 companies in the region have eligible applications for reindustrialization support created after the Kristin accident. However, the available funds for these supports are already exhausted, leaving these companies without access to financing. The affected companies are thus deprived of the state support that was available for recovery and industrial modernization following that incident. The situation leaves dozens of projects that met the eligibility criteria established for these specific funds without a response.

Lisbon Port breaks records in cruise activity in August

The Port of Lisbon achieved in August 2026 its best month ever in cruise activity, with 86,322 passengers, a 23% growth compared to the previous year, and 33 calls, 32% more than in August 2025. The turnaround segment, which includes embarkation and disembarkation, more than doubled, with 24,633 movements, already representing 28.5% of total traffic. In the year-to-date, between January and August, the port recorded 220 calls and 448,037 passengers, consolidating Lisbon as one of the main international cruise destinations.
