The Port of Lisbon achieved in August 2026 its best month ever in cruise activity, with 86,322 passengers passing through the port, a 23% growth compared to the same month in 2025. The number of calls also reached a new all-time high of 33, representing a 32% increase compared to the previous year and surpassing the previous record of 29 calls set in August 2008.
The turnaround passenger segment, which includes embarkation and disembarkation movements, more than doubled, totaling 24,633 movements, a 117% growth compared to August 2025. Embarked passengers increased from 5,701 to 12,090 and disembarked passengers from 5,663 to 12,543, now representing 28.5% of monthly passenger traffic.
During the month, the port received two ships on their inaugural calls, the Explora III and the Mein Schiff Flow, and also recorded 61,689 transit passengers, surpassing the previous maximum of 60,132 from August 2024. The results reflect a trend of reduced seasonality, with summer months showing growing demand from major international cruise lines.
In the year-to-date from January to August 2026, the Port of Lisbon recorded 220 calls and 448,037 passengers, with growth of 6% and 2% respectively. The turnaround segment added 127,194 passengers in the first eight months of the year, a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2025, representing 28.4% of total traffic.
