The Court of Auditors confirmed the approval for the Portuguese State to purchase 13.7% of the capital of REN (Redes Energéticas Nacionais), thus giving the green light to the operation.
With this acquisition, the State's position in REN becomes the second largest in the company's capital, behind only the 25% held by the Chinese State Grid.
The operation represents a reinforcement of the State's involvement in the national energy sector, allowing the government to have a more significant voice in the decisions of the company that manages the energy grids in Portugal.
