A 23-year-old man was arrested by GNR on September 6th in Vidigueira for suspected illegal weapon possession. The operation was carried out by the Vidigueira Territorial Post, of the Beja Territorial Command, following information gathered by the military officers pointing to a possible situation related to illegal weapon possession.
During a patrol and crime prevention operation, the military officers stopped a vehicle in circulation in the locality of Vidigueira. During the operation, a search of the vehicle and personal searches of the occupants were carried out, during which a 7.65 mm caliber pistol was found, the possession of which was not authorized due to the lack of a license or proper documentation.
In addition to the firearm, GNR seized 34 rounds of ammunition and a tactical flashlight. The operation had the reinforcement of military officers from the Alvito Territorial Post. The suspect was subsequently brought before the Judicial Court of Cuba, which determined as a precautionary measure the obligation of weekly reporting to the GNR post in his area of residence.
GNR states that it will continue to develop prevention and inspection actions aimed at combating crime and detecting situations related to illegal weapon possession, contributing to the safety and tranquility of the population.
