Two Mexicans were arrested in the act this Monday by civil police officers from the Delegation for the Suppression of Crimes Against Intellectual Property (DRCPIM) while selling cell phones stolen during Rock in Rio, in Barra da Tijuca, Southwest Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The foreigners were located in a hotel in the central region of the state capital.
Six cell phone devices were recovered during the operation. Investigations indicated that the pair had already sold some cell phones previously in the Uruguaiana area, in Downtown Rio.
The civil police also identified two men who were negotiating the purchase of the stolen devices. Both were taken to DRCPIM to provide clarifications about their involvement in the scheme.
The recovered cell phones will undergo technical forensic examination and, after the procedures are completed, may be returned to their legitimate owners.
